In comments published on Natalie, both Hashimoto and Miura expressed feeling nervous about their roles due to the long lines and the difficult medical terms. However, they're also both very excited about the premise and eager to rise to the challenge.
The Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective series is based on Mikito Chinen's ongoing light novel series, which began in 2014 and currently has 16 volumes. An anime adaptation has been airing since January 2nd and is currently available on Crunchyroll. The streaming platform describes the series as follows:
Ten’ikai General Hospital’s Supervisory Department of Diagnostic Pathology handles cases other physicians deem too difficult to treat. It’s also where bizarre mysteries surface, from unexplained illnesses to strange murders even the police can’t solve. At the center of it all is Takao Ameku, a brilliant doctor determined to reveal the shocking truth behind these anomalies.
