The franchise also has several side stories and specials, as well as a movie from 2016, titled Assassination Classroom The Movie: 365 Days' Time. This movie is mostly a recap but features some new story elements.

The original theme song for the season of the Assassination Classroom anime was "Question" by the five abovementioned cast members, performing as the 3-Nen E-Gumi Utatan unit. It was used for the first cour and then replaced by "Byebye Yesterday." Shion Miyawaki performed the ending theme songs "Kaketa Tsuki" and "Mata Kimi ni Aeru Hi."
The anime adapted the original manga by Yusei Matsui, serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2016. The plot follows a class of misfits, tasked with killing their teacher Koro-sensei: a mysterious octopus-looking creature, who is threatening to blow up the moon.
