Blue Miburo Announces Season 2 for Winter 2026

Blue Miburo anime announced a sequel: Season 2 which is slated to air next winter. Teaser visual and trailer have been revealed following today's broadcast of the first season's finale.

The second season it titled Serizawa Ansatsu Hen (Serizawa Assassination arc). Staff and studio details have not been revealed at the time of writing.

Maho Film animated the first season of the anime, which premiered in October 2024 and ran for 24 episodes. Kumiko Habara directed the anime with Kenta Ihara on the series composition. Miyako Nishida and Yuko Oba did the character designs and Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia, Sakamoto Days) composed the music.

The Blue Miburo anime is based on the The Blue Wolves of Mibu manga, written by Tsuyoshi Yasuda and serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2021 to 20224. Kodansha US licensed the manga in English.

Crunchyroll is streaming the anime in certain regions and describes the plot as:
The Black Ships arrive in Kyoto as the shogunate stumbles toward ruin. Living amidst the chaos is Nio, a kindhearted boy on the verge of discovering his destiny. He meets two “Miburo,” Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Soji, members of the band of Mibu ronin who will later become the famous Shinsengumi. With dreams of a better world, Nio joins their fight to defend the city.
