Captivated, by You Anime Announces Cast Additions
Nobuhiko Okamoto and Yuki Ono will be joining the cast of the upcoming Captivated, by You anime as Akira Nikaido and Yuichi Medaka.
Captivated, by You will be directed by Asami Nakatani at studio Doga Kobo, with series composition by Yoshimi Narita and music by Takuro Iga. The team is also adapting another work by the same author, Let's Go Karaoke, and the two series will broadcast together starting from July.
The previously announced main cast comprises:
- Kensho Ono as Miyoshi Hayashi
- Koki Uchiyama as Joji Ema
Captivated, by You is an adaptation of the anthology manga by Yama Wayama. As with their other work, Let's Go Karaoke, it was originally self-published for COMITIA in 2019, and later acquired by Enterbrain for a physical release. The title was licensed in English by Yen Press and released in July 2021.
Captivated, by You also received a television drama that aired on MBS TV and TV Kanagawa in 2021, directed by Ayuko Tsukuhara, Eiji Takano, and Moeka Miyazaki. Scripts were written by Kohei Kiyasu and Manato Hamada. Ryusei Onishi from J-Pop band Naniwa Danshi starred as Miyoshi Hayashi, with Fumiya Takahashi playing Akira Nikaido.

Hayashi’s frank, guileless demeanor quietly draws the attention of classmates and strangers as he counts all the stairs in school, photographs street signs, and dries sweet potatoes on the classroom balcony. In a world shaped by conformity, Hayashi is refreshingly and unapologetically true to himself. Conversely, Nikaidou has worked very hard to perfect a gloomy, dour façade that keeps his classmates far, far away. While much of the school regards Nikaidou as a bad omen, one student catches a glimpse behind the mask and-undeterred by rumors of bad luck and supernatural powers-begins to pick away Nikaidou’s carefully crafted persona…
