Dorohedoro Anime Marks 2025 Return With Teaser Visual, Studio Announcement
The previously announced Dorohedoro anime sequel revealed a new teaser visual and confirmed that studio MAPPA is returning to animate the adaptation. Yuichiro Hayashi is also reprising his role as the director.
Hayashi commented on the announcement:
We've kept you all waiting for such a long time, but Dorohedoro anime is finally back! It's even more chaotic, anarchic, and slasher than the last season! If you haven't seen Dorohedoro yet, or you think it sounds scary, you still have time before it starts streaming! Make sure to watch the previous season and step into a comical and chaotic world.
Dorohedoro anime adapts Q Hayashida's manga, originally serialized from 2000 to 2018. The manga began serialization in 2000 in Shogakukan’s Monthly Ikki Magazine but after the magazine ceased publication in 2014, it moved to Hibana in 2015. Hibana ceased publication in 2017 so Doroheroro manga ended its run in Monthly Shonen Sunday in 2018. VIZ Media licensed it in English.
The first season of the anime premiered in the Winter 2020 anime season. The 12-episode series was a Netflix exclusive and it became available overseas in May of that year. In addition to Hayashi, the staff included Hiroshi Seko on series composition, and Tomohiro Kishi on character designs, while RON composed the music. (K)NoW_NAME, of which RON is a member, was in charge of the theme songs.
