Dragonite and the Special Delivery Anime Short Marks Pokémon Day 2025
CoMix Wave Films released an animated Pokémon short to commemorate the Pokémon Day 2025 (February 27). Kairyuu to Yuubinya-san (Dragonite and the Special Delivery) is now streaming on the official channel of the franchise:

The plot follows a 12-year old girl, Hana from the Paldea region. Her dream is to become a mail carrier, just like her idol Dragonite. One day, she is given a letter with no address and she spends hours looking for the sender. She eventually finds him and learns that his name is Rio. Rio wrote the letter to his father in the Kanto region, to wish him a happy birthday. As it turns out, his birthday is today...
This is the latest addition to the long-running Pokémon (Pocket Monsters) franchise, which is celebrating it's 29th birthday this year. It's also not the first time that the CoMix Wave Films was involved with it: the studio, best known for Makoto Shinkai's Your Name, Suzume, and Weathering With You, previously animated the 2023 Pokémon World Championships commercial.
