Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon Unveils Subbed Trailer, Begins Ticket Sales
Tickets for the North American screenings of Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon movie are now on sale, Crunchyroll announced. The movie will screen on April 13, 14 and 16. Check out the official subbed trailer (region-locked):
Crunchyroll refers to the Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon as an omnibus: the movie is a recap of the first season and also includes a new original episode, Hoshina's Day Off. The plot of the new episode is described as:
A day off... a rare day of peace for the Defense Force. After spending so long training, Reno has forgotten what he's supposed to do with free time. He sees that Hoshina is up to something with his own day off, and decides to go on a mission to tail him with Iharu! But then things go in an unexpected direction…
The runtime for the movie is 119 minutes and the credits include:

Kaiju No. 8 is based on a manga by Naoya Matsumoto. It has been serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app and website since July 2020. An anime adaptation by Production I.G. aired in April 2023, while a second anime season is expected to premiere in July 2025. Crunchyroll streams the anime and describes the plot:
In a world plagued by creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in The Defense Force. He makes a promise to enlist with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Soon, life takes them in separate ways. While employed cleaning up after Kaiju battles, Kafka meets Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s determination to join The Defense Force reawakens Kafka’s promise to join Mina and protect humanity.
