Nintendo Announces Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Coming to Switch 2 in 2025

During April 2nd Nintendo Direct, a short 5-second long clip of Hollow Knight: Silksong was shown as part of a reel of game collection announced for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Alongside it, the official Nintendo Twitter account confirmed the game will be coming to the handheld console this year.

Following the success of its predecessor, Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced in February of 2019 as an expansion for the critically acclaimed Metroidvenia Hollow Knight. However due to the increase in size of the project, the developer Team Cherry decided to expand it into a full-blown sequel.

Following the announcement was six years of mostly radio silence from the developer, with few crumbs of information sporadically shared by them regarding the progress of the game or any potential release dates leading to a lot of the built up anticipation for the title to turn into frustration from the game's community. The recent announcement managed to reignite the community's excitement on social media.

It's worth noting that in 2022, official Xbox Twitter/X made claims that Silksong would be available within the next 12 months. However, that never happened.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is a sequel to the poplar indie game Hollow knight which was released in 2017 by the Australian developer Team Cherry. In addition to Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox, the game will also be available on Steam. Switch 2 is releasing on June 5.
