Producer Masanori Fujita Appointed as Science Saru President

Toho producer Masanori Fujita has been appointed as the new president of studio Science SARU. Fujita is taking over from Eunyoung Choi, who was the president and CEO, and co-founded the studio with director Masaaki Yuasa.

Fujita is known for producer work on anime such as Akame ga Kill, Haikyu!!, Psycho-Pass 2, and more. More recently, they were a part of the production committee for the first cour of The Apothecary Diaries anime and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

The Science SARU studio, known for titles such as Inu-Oh, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, The Colors Within, and Dan Da Dan, was founded in 2013. Last year, it became Toho's subsidiary. The two companies stated that their goal is to improve the production environment and provide more creative opportunities for employees. The consolidation was to be completed by February 28, 2025. As of April 2024, the studio had 54 employees.

Upcoming projects for the studio include the second season of the Dan Da Dan, an anime adaptation of Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia, as well as a new TV anime adaptation from the infamous Ghost in the Shell franchise.

In addition to Science SARU, Toho also bought American distributor GKIDS last year.

Masaaki Yuasa recently announced that he founded a new studio, called Ame Pippin. Ame Pippin's first work will be an adaptation of the Daisy's Life novel.
