Rie Takahashi Announces Hiatus Due to Vocal Cords Surgery

Voice actress Rie Takahashi announced that she will be going on a brief, month-long hiatus due to surgery on her vocal cords. Takahashi's agency, 81 Produce, revealed that the voice actress has been struggling with hoarseness caused by nodules on vocal cords for some time now and that in consolation with medical professionals it was decided that a surgery is the best course of action.

Takahashi quoted the agency's announcement on her Twitter/X saying that she is going on a short break for a month to prepare for future long-term activities.

As announced by my agency, I will be taking a short break of about a month to undergo surgery for vocal cord nodules in order to prepare for my future long-term activities. "I apologize to everyone who supports me on a daily basis for causing concern, but I am in good health, so I would appreciate it if you could remain calm and wait for a little while longer..." she added.

Rie Takahashi is known for a number of popular roles, including Ai Hoshino in Oshi no Ko, Megumin in KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!, Emilia in Re:ZERO: Starting Life in Another World, Kaoru Kamiya in the new Rurouni Kenshin, Hu Tao in Genshin Impact, and more. She won the Best Female Newcomer at the 10th Seiyu Awards in 2016. Takahashi also sings and has released two EPs.
