Sentenced to Be a Hero Anime Reveals Teaser Visual, 2025 Premiere
The upcoming anime adaptation of Sentenced to Be a Hero revealed a new teaser visual, main cast, and a 2025 premiere date. As previously announced, Studio KAI is in charge of the animation.
The main cast includes Yohei Azakami and Mayu Iizuka who will be voicing Xylo Forbartz and Teoritta. Azakami's comment was also revealed:
"First, please watch the teaser PV."
Honestly, this one sentence sums it all up.
Although it was released before the recording session, I was immediately drawn into the world of the work by its beautiful animation and dynamic soundtrack.
The joy and pressure of playing Xylo. Amidst the chaotic emotions and the flow of blood coursing through my body, I am preparing for battle.
To the fans of the work and those who will become fans in the future, I sincerely hope you will fully enjoy the world of the Punishment Heroes, starting with this "despair." Thank you very much.

Kadokawa describes the plot:
"Hero" is the worst punishment in the world.
For those convicted of heinous crimes, they are sentenced to become a “Hero" and forced to enter the mandatory military service in the war against the Demon Lords. These convicts are not even allowed to die—if killed, they will be resurrected to fight another day.
Hero Xylo Forbartz, former head of the Order of the Holy Knights, leads a penal unit of deplorables fighting on the front lines. It’s in these direst of circumstances that he meets Teoritta, one of the world’s the strongest weapons.
"When every last enemy has been defeated, you are to shower me with praise and pat my head."
In order to survive and to take revenge on those who wronged him, he makes a pact with the goddess and launches headfirst into a maelstrom of war and intrigue.
The teaser trailer was revealed nine months ago. The anime will adapt the web novel turned light novel written by Rocket Shokai and illustrated by MEPHISTO. The novel is serialized under Dengeki Bunko's Dengeki no Shinbungei imprint. A manga adaptation by Natsumi Inoue is currently ongoing in Dengeki Comic Regulus. Yen Press licensed the novels in English.
