The Summer Hikaru Died Anime Reveals Main Trailer
The Summer Hikaru Died anime revealed the main trailer at AnimeJapan 2025 stage dedicated to the upcoming adaptation. The new trailer shows off the ending theme song by TOOBOE.
Earlier this week, a key visual featuring Hikaru and Yoshiki was revealed. Netflix is streaming the series animated by CygamesPictures. Ryohei Takeshita is directing and doing the series composition. Yuichi Takahashi is the character designer and chief animation director and Masanobu Hiraoka is credited as DORODORO animations. The cast includes:
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Yoshiki Tsujinaka
- Shuichiro Umeda as Hikaru Indo
- Yumiri Hanamori as Asako Yamagishi
The anime will adapt The Summer Hikaru Died (Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu) manga by Mokumokuren, serialized in Kadokawa's Young Ace Up magazine. Yen Press licensed the manga in English.
The story follows Yoshiki and Hikaru, childhood friends. One day, Hikaru disappears on a mountain but returns a week later. However, the thing that returned is not Yoshiki's friend in spite of having his face, his voice, and his looks. Then, mysterious things start happening in the village and natural order of things is disturbed...
